Replacing a faulty oven heating element can seem like a daunting task, but with a little knowledge and some basic tools, it can be a simple and straightforward process. Here's how to change the oven heating element.
1. Turn off the power
Before beginning any work on the oven, make sure you turn off all the power to the appliance by unplugging it from the wall or turning off the circuit breaker at the main electrical panel.
2. Access the heating element
Once you have turned off the power, remove the oven racks and any other items in the oven to access the heating element.
3. Disconnect the heating element
Locate the wires connecting the heating element to the oven, and carefully disconnect them from the terminal points.
4. Remove the old heating element
With the wires disconnected, remove the screws or clips holding the heating element in place. Gently pull the element out from the oven wall.
5. Install the new heating element
Place the new heating element into the oven, making sure it's securely in place. Fasten it with screws or clips and reconnect the wires to the terminals, making sure they're attached in the same way as before.
6. Restore power and test
Once you have installed the new heating element, restore power to the oven by plugging it back in or turning the circuit breaker back on. Turn the oven on to a low temperature to test that the new heating element is working correctly.
