Type K thermocouples are temperature sensors composed of nickel-chromium (positive leg, Chromel®) and nickel-aluminum (negative leg, Alumel®) alloys. As a standardized base-metal thermocouple (compliant with IEC 60584 and ASTM E230), they operate on the Seebeck effect, converting temperature differences into millivolt-level electrical signals.
