Common heat treatment processes for flanges include:
Annealing: Heating the flange to a specific temperature and then cooling it slowly to relieve internal stresses, soften the material, and improve its ductility.
Quenching and Tempering: The flange is heated to a high temperature and then rapidly cooled (quenched) in water or oil. This hardens the material. Afterward, it is tempered by reheating to a lower temperature to reduce brittleness while maintaining strength.
Normalizing: Heating the flange to a temperature above its critical range and then air cooling to refine the grain structure and improve uniformity in the material properties.
