1-Bimetallic Disc: In a bimetallic disc thermostat, the temperature-sensing element is a bimetallic disc composed of two different metals bonded together. These metals have different coefficients of thermal expansion, causing the disc to bend when exposed to temperature changes.
2-Thermistor: In some KSD thermostats, the temperature-sensing element may be a thermistor, which is a temperature-sensitive resistor. The resistance of the thermistor changes with temperature, allowing it to measure the surrounding temperature.
3-Temperature Detection: The bimetallic disc or thermistor is placed in direct contact with the environment or the object whose temperature needs to be monitored. As the temperature changes, the bimetallic disc bends or the thermistor's resistance varies, providing an electrical signal proportional to the temperature.
4-Snap-Action: The electrical signal from the temperature-sensing element is used to trigger the snap-action mechanism, which opens or closes the electrical contacts inside the thermostat.
5-Temperature Regulation: Based on the state of the electrical contacts (open or closed), the thermostat regulates the connected heating or cooling system to either turn on or off, maintaining the desired temperature.
