Finned electric heating elements are an electric heater specifically designed to maximize heat transfer to air (or other gases). Finned heaters are made by attaching metal fins to a standard tubular (sheathed resistance wire) electric heating element. The use of fins, creates a dramatic increase in the amount of surface area that is in contact with the fluid (gas) around it, and meaningful increases in the convective heat transfer rate, relative to a bare tubular element. This makes fins the heater of choice for any application where fast and even heating of large volumes of air (or gases) through efficient means is required for industrial and commercial processes.

 

1-High Efficiency: Fins provide a significant amount of heat transfer surface area over its footprint and wattage, allowing for less time and energy to reach operational temperatures, resulting in reduced heat-up & lower operating costs for air/gas heating operations.

2-Lower Operating Temperatures: Fins disperse the heat over a wider area. Dispersing the heat reduces the sheath surface temperature necessary to transfer the same total heat output as a bare element. Lower sheath temperatures assist with extending element life.

3-Compact Design: Provides high heat generation in a smaller physical footprint, great for ducts, coy's, and any type of equipment that requires small spaces.

4-Rapid Response: Any disentangled heating element is going to typically be low mass and high surface area; this will result in decreased heat up times when power is applied.

5-Uniform Heat Distribution: Fins promote a more uniform heat distribution across the path of the airflow making them useful in terms of hot spots.
