How to Test a Coil Heating Element?

Step 1- Known what the resistances you are looking for, you can check the elements.

Step 2- Use a multimeter to find resistance. Measure the resistance to the heating element with no any power source and connecting the multimeter leads to the terminals of the heating element.

If the reading on the multimeter is the same or very close to that of the value you calculated, then the element is OK. However, if the reading is a lot higher or lower than the calculated value, the element is failing and won’t be heating fully or heating too much.
