A Type K thermocouple is the best thermocouple for temperature measurement. It has a wide temperature range, is affordable, and is reliable. It is made from two dissimilar metals: nickel-chromium (chromel) and nickel-aluminium (alumel), which form the positive and negative legs of the thermocouple, respectively. When the junction of these metals experiences a temperature difference, a small voltage is generated that can be correlated to temperature.

Depends on the protective sheath, junction type and environment.
Response times range from a few milliseconds to several seconds.
Ungrounded junctions respond more slowly but are less affected by noise. Grounded junctions respond more quickly but are more affected by noise.

The voltage output range is -6.458 mV to 54.886 mV for temperatures between -200°C and +1350°C.
7. Insulation Resistance
Type K thermocouples usually have high insulation resistance, but it can degrade at high temperatures or in corrosive environments.
8. Environmental Resistance
Oxidation Resistance It resists oxidation at high temperatures, so it can be used in air or oxidising environments.
Corrosion resistance: Not suitable for use in reducing, vacuum or sulfur-containing environments unless protected.
