1-Bimetallic Disc: The core component is a disc made from two different metals bonded together. Each metal has a different coefficient of thermal expansion (they expand at different rates when heated).

2-Snap-Action: As the temperature rises, the disc expands unevenly. At a specific calibrated temperature (the set point), the internal stress causes the disc to instantly "snap" from a convex to a concave shape (or vice versa).

3-Electrical Contact: This physical snap action pushes or pulls a movable electrical contact away from a stationary contact, abruptly opening (breaking) the circuit to cut power to the heater.

4-Reset: When the temperature cools down by a certain amount (the differential), the disc snaps back to its original shape, closing the circuit and restoring power.
