KSD Thermostat Bimetal Ceramic Switch is a temperature control switch that uses a bimetallic strip and a ceramic base to regulate temperature. It is commonly referred to as a Klixon Snap Disc or a snap action thermostat. The bimetallic strip is made up of two metals with different coefficients of thermal expansion. As the temperature changes, the strip bends and moves a contact away from or towards the terminal, thus turning the system on or off. The ceramic base provides insulation between the bimetallic strip and the mounting surface.
