Chrome steel sheath ceramic strip heaters made by Jaye are able to withstand higher temperatures (usually limited to 40 to 45 watts per square inch). The heater consists of a stainless steel sheath that contains a high-temperature ceramic insulated nickel-chrome wire coil. Magnesium oxide (MgO) is used to fill any gap, thus providing the best possible heat transfer. The terminals are also made of stainless steel and anchor securely to prevent twisting under normal conditions. Several terminals are available including water resistance. They provide clean and reliable heat with a pod temperature of up to 649 ° C (1200 ° F) and a watt density of up to 40 watts per square inch. Due to the seamless stainless steel sheath, these ceramic insulated strip heaters are dimensionally stable in milled slots.
