How They Are Constructed

 

A typical silicone rubber heater has a layered "sandwich" structure:

1-Silicone Rubber Layers: The outer layers are made of fiberglass-reinforced silicone rubber. This provides:

1)-Flexibility: Can conform to curved and irregular surfaces.

2)-Durability: Resistant to moisture, chemicals, and physical abrasion.

3)-Electrical Insulation: Protects the user and the equipment.

2-Heating Element: Sandwiched between the silicone layers. Two main types:

1)-Etched Foil Element: A thin metal foil (often nickel or stainless steel) is chemically etched into a precise circuit pattern. This allows for very 1)-uniform heat distribution and complex shapes.

2)-Wire Wound Element: A resistance wire (like Nichrome) is laid out in a pattern. This is a robust and cost-effective option.

3-Integral Components:

1)-Leads: Insulated wires for power connection.

2)-Sensors: Often include integrated thermostats or RTD sensors for temperature control.

1)-Adhesive: Many come with a 3M adhesive on one side for easy installation.
