Self-Regulating Pipe Heating Cable Pipe Freeze Protection Heating Cable features a core semiconductor heater positioned between two parallel conductive bus wires, all encased within insulation.
The resistive heating element demonstrates a significant Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC), where electrical resistance increases as temperature rises.
This unique property enables the cable to automatically adjust its heat output in response to ambient temperatures. It can be cut to desired lengths and even overlapped during installation without the risk of overheating or damage.
Working Principle
The conductive pathways within a self-regulating heating cable dynamically adjust in response to the surrounding temperature. When ambient temperature drops, the electrical resistance across these pathways decreases, resulting in a higher power output. Conversely, as temperature rises, the resistance increases, thereby reducing heat output.
This continuous, self-adjusting mechanism operates in real time to maintain consistent thermal performance.
