# What power is suitable for heating elements?

Many customers asked us such a question when buying heating elements: What power is suitable for heating elements? In fact, whether it is cartridge heater or a flat flange heating element, the power is related to the size and heating medium. The heating element power can generally follow the following simple methods to design:

According to the working environment of the heating element, it is generally divided into dry heating and heating liquid.

(1) For dry heating, we have to figure out whether there is fan circulation during dry heating. If there is fan circulation, the power of our heating element is generally set as: the total length of the heating area of the element (unit: meter) and power of the element is 1:1.5, that is, the heating element with a length of one meter, in the case of dry burning and fan circulation, the most suitable power is 1500W; if there is no fan circulation, the power of our heating element is generally set Set as: the ratio of the total length of the heating area of the electric heating tube (unit: meter) to the power of the heating tube is 1:1, that is, the heating tube with a length of one meter will have the highest power in the case of dry burning and no fan circulation. Suitable to achieve 1000W.

(2) When heating liquid, we have to figure out whether it is heating water or heating oil (generally liquid heating, we use stainless steel heating element). Generally, when heating water, the power of the electric heating element is set as: under normal circumstances, the ratio of the total length of the heating area of the electric heating element (unit: meter) to the power of the electric heating tube is 1:2, that is, the element with a length of one meter. The power is suitable to achieve 2000W, of course, in the case of boiling water, the maximum can be 4000W;  the lower the power per meter, the longer the life. If it is oil heating, the heating element The power setting is: the relationship between the total length of the heating area of the electric heating tube and the maximum power of the electric heating tube is 1:2.5, that means, the element with a length of one meter has a power of up to 2500W, and we generally set it for normal heating of heat transfer oil. The proportional relationship is 1:1 or 1:1.5 to reduce the carbon formation speed and life.

Generally speaking, no matter whether dry or liquid, the lower the power per meter, the longer the life of the heating tube!
