Metal Processing Cartridge Heaters, or cartridge heaters, are cylindrical heating elements with a heating element wrapped around a ceramic core. These heaters provide a pleasing and dependable approach to apply focused heat at high temperatures, particularly where compact, insert type heating are required. Cartridge heaters are known for their extended life and maintenance free operation. Heating elements are in contact with the material being heated for optimal heat transfer. Swaged construction minimizes air gaps, enhancing efficiency, and heat transfer. Low, medium and high watt densities are compatible with cartridge heaters. They are engineered to withstand a working temperature of 700 °C.

Construction
- High-temperature lead wires are made of fiberglass or silicon rubber, which will withstand temperatures of up to 550°C, in order to transfer current.
- Nickel-chromium heating element is wound, is evenly wound over a ceramic core to transfer heat.
- Ceramic cap, sealed with epoxy or cement, to resist contamination and withstand high vibrations.
- The insulation will be magnesium oxide, compacted to give exceptional dielectric strength and thermal conductivity.
- The outer metal sheath will be either a stainless steel or Inconel sheath to resist heat and oxidative environments.
- Sealed at the end to prevent contamination and formation of moisture.
